My Inspiration to Become a Health Coach

I’ve been there.

In the year 2000, I lost my mother from heart disease at the young age of 67. Less than two years later, my father died from cancer at the age of 69. Then, in 2008, my husband of 22 years died suddenly and unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm. He was only 47. I was a 44-year-old grief-stricken widow and overwhelmed by instantly becoming a single parent left to manage everything myself.

I began to comfort myself with food. Before I knew it, I weighed 194 lbs at just 5’ tall, and I was taking medications for cholesterol, triglycerides, and high blood pressure. Years later, I met a wonderful man who became my second husband, though I was still overweight and unhealthy.

One day, I finally realized it was time to take back control of my health, not only for myself but for my new husband, my sons, and my adorable grandsons. I wanted to live a healthier life to continue building precious memories with my loved ones. So, I joined a fitness group called Camp Gladiator. I also realized I needed to change my unhealthy eating habits. I read numerous books about nutrition and our food industry. Over three years, I successfully lost 60 lbs and came off all my medications. Currently, at the age of 55, I’ve never felt better physically, mentally, and spiritually.

My journey to becoming healthy filled me with an overwhelming inspiration to help others improve their lives and health. As a certified health coach, I help others to change their unhealthy habits, mindset, and make healthier choices, which lead to weight loss and increased energy and the ability to live life to fullest.

A friend referred me to Kathryn. I spent about four months with her, discussing health issues. I loved Kathryn’s approach to get to the root cause of my dilemma and not put a band-aid on it, as I had experienced in the past. Speaking with her on video chat, recording my foods, and feeling after eating, we discovered the cause. I’m so thankful to have committed to having Kathryn as my health coach! She is passionate about her coaching, and she is determined to guide her clients to a healthier lifestyle. I reached out to Kathryn after seeing a picture of her in a N.Y. Mets shirt, she stated she weighed 194lbs and it reminded me of myself. My highest weight was 199 lbs. at 5 feet. I was so uncomfortable with myself and dreaded leaving my home. After losing 25 lbs. from working with Kathryn, I feel better about going out and being around others and more importantly I am healthier. My family and friends notice my mood is better and I’m happier. Before I started working with Kathryn, no matter how many hours I slept I was always felt tired. Now, I wake up feeling refreshed and I have fewer headaches. I also discovered I enjoy preparing healthier meals. Kathryn is always honest, kind and caring even when I wanted to give up on myself. Despite my desire to comply, I walked up and down my stairs for 5 minutes. This is one example of how Kathryn will hold you accountable. After this incredible experience with Kathryn, I’ve developed healthier habits, a positive mindset, I have more energy, less anxiety and depression. My pets enjoy more quality time with a energized owner. Kathryn’s knowledge of nutrition enables her to treat each client individually. I was confident I was in good hands with Kathryn as my health coach, because she understood why I was struggling to make healthy choices, because of her own experience.
